Remedial Deep Tissue Massage

Remedial Massage is a deep tissue massage technique used to treat injuries. This form of massage is unique, in that it removes the damaged cells left by injury, thus enabling the blood to flow once more into areas that have been lacking oxygen and nutrients. This encourages rapid and effective healing. Unless these damaged cells are removed, a full recovery cannot be expected. Remedial massage can break down fibrous areas which may have developed in muscle, thereby alleviating pain and discomfort.

Remedial massage works well on areas of specific damage, immobility issues, knotted areas, stiffness, scar tissue, adhesions, swelling and areas of physical tension. During a massage treatment, reduced pressure techniques are also used to stimulate circulation, reduce stress and eliminate tension. This massage is especially beneficial for work related ailments and repetitive strain injuries, as well as a vast array of sports injuries.

Back, neck and shoulder pain is very common these days, causing many problems within the body. It may have occurred as a result of physical injury, bad posture or tension, causing muscles to be in a contracted state for long periods of time. Remedial massage is especially effective for reducing pain.

What can I expect in a remedial massage session?

The therapist will take your medical history and details of any current problems. A suitable massage will follow, using advanced massage techniques, tailored to suit your needs.

Remedial massage involves the manipulation of the soft body tissues. That is our skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Various massage movements are used in a treatment to speed up circulation, increase the blood and lymph supply, thereby eliminating toxins.

A regular massage ensures that unnoticeably small injuries are treated before they become a problem.
