Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is a gentle way to release emotional and muscular tension, to assist the lymphatic flow and generally improve the circulation. It treats the whole person - body, mind and spirit. Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils in a carrier oil. It is enjoyable, healing and relaxing.

Essential oils are known to have many healing properties which affect our whole body. They have been in use for thousands of years. They are highly concentrated and powerful, being absorbed into our blood stream and circulatory system. They are derived from the flowers, leaves, roots, rind and the bark of plants.

Essential oils are beneficial for a wide range of conditions. Before a treatment begins, a specific selection of these oils will be blended into a carrier oil for your individual needs, and used together with the type of massage technique that you require. Our skin absorbs the oils and promotes healing and well being. An aromatherapy massage can help to relax the body, increase blood flow, and aid the elimination of toxins.

What is Aromatherapy?

The word 'Aromatherapy' was first used in the 1920s by French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé, who healed his arm after badly burning it in a perfume factory. He put his injured arm into the nearest cold liquid that he could find. This was lavender oil, and so he discovered its remarkable healing qualities. He devoted his life to further researching the properties of other 'essential oils'.
