The Bowen Technique

with Pat Benning (MA, RGN, BTAA)

Pat has extensive experience as a senior nurse and manager in the N.H.S. for over thirty years.
She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, in hospitals and the community. Her experience of working with patients and their families has enabled her to develop keen intuitive skills.

It became apparent to Pat whilst listening to patients’ histories and life stories, that disease is not simply a collection of physical symptoms, but rather a manifestation of the physical, psychological, and often spiritual stresses and stains that modern life throws at us. Hence, she began to read more widely beyond the medical textbooks. As a result, she developed a keen interest in holistic therapies.

The Bowen Technique

Pat became interested in The Bowen Technique when she was treated for back, neck and shoulder problems. Her first response was: “How can something so gentle and non-intrusive possibly help me?” She was amazed by the excellent results from this treatment. Indeed she was so impressed that it was then that she decided to train as a Bowen Therapist.

Pat and her family decided to escape city life and move to the Lake District nine years ago. She now lives in the South Lakes area and enjoys nothing more than walking the fells and experiencing the breathtaking Lakeland scenery.

Pat practices The Bowen Technique (Bowtech) and is also qualified in Therapeutic Massage and Reflexology. She is particularly interested in the effects of stress upon the body, and the undoubted link between what we think and how we function.
